PROVO, Utah – BYU football is in the top five for Snow College defensive back Keionte Scott. The 6-foot, 185-pound prospect announced his top schools on Friday.

Scott trimmed down his offer sheet of 27 schools down to 12 in October then to five with the announcement.

Along with BYU, the other four schools included Auburn, Miami, Oregon, and Tennessee.

The BYU football program got in on Scott early during his recruitment. The Cougars were the first FBS school to offer the heralded junior college prospect. Since the BYU offer, Scott has made a meteoric rise up the recruiting boards as he now ranks as the fifth-best recruit nationally in 247Sports’ JUCO Composite rankings.

Keionte Scott’s connections to BYU Football

Scott has connections to BYU, most notably with Cougar running back Miles Davis. The two were teammates for a brief period at Las Vegas High School in Nevada before Scott moved to San Diego and concluded his prep career at Helix High School.

The Snow College coaching staff is filled with former BYU players in head coach Zac Erekson, defensive coordinator Jan Jorgensen, and defensive backs coach Tanner Jacobson.

This fall is Scott’s second year with the Snow College program. He played during the COVID-delayed spring season earlier this year. Whichever school he ends up signing with, he will have three years to play four, as he still has a redshirt to utilize if needed in his career.

Scott is part of a Snow College defense that has only allowed its opponents 188.8 passing yards per game. On the season, Scott has 27 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and ten pass breakups in six games played.

BYU currently has 17 commitments in the class of 2022. Scott is one of BYU’s top priorities in this cycle as he could potentially be an immediate contributor to a Cougar secondary that’s always in need of additional depth.

The early signing period for College Football begins on December 15 and runs through December 17.
