SALT LAKE CITY – Tony Finau is back on the PGA Tour as he prepares for this week’s Mayakoba Golf Classic in Mexico. The event will mark just the second time this PGA season that Finau has competed.
Finau, 32, has competed in the Mayakoba for three consecutive years, however, his debut occurred back in 2015. This event has been one of Finau’s most enjoyable, as his past results would reflect.
In 2015, when Finau debuted, he notched his best-ever finish when he concluded the event in a T7 and just five shots behind eventual winner Charley Hoffman. In 2017 and 2020 he missed the cut, but in 2019 he finished in a T16 and last year he managed a T8. History suggests that if Finau can make the cut this weekend he is due for yet another top 20 finish.

The tournament will be played at El Camaleón Mayakoba Golf Course; a gorgeous golf course that runs alongside the oceanfront. The ocean is a clear blue color, while the sand is alabaster white, it is truly a beautiful golf course located just south of Cancun on Mexico’s east coast.
Finau is 1 of 9 top 25 players in the world in the field while 20 of the top 50 players are committed. Other notable players in the field include Brooks Koepka, Sergio Garcia, Justin Thomas, Patrick Reed, Justin Rose, Gary Woodland, Abraham Ancer, and defending champion Viktor Hovland.
