BYU’s Alex Barcello Scores Go-Ahead Layup In Final Minute Of Regulation Against Waves

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU guard Alex Barcello scored a go-ahead layup in the final minute of regulation of the Cougars’ game against the Pepperdine Waves.
The No. 2 Cougars and No. 3 Waves played in the WCC semifinal game at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday, March 8.
With 16.8 seconds remaining, Barcello made a decisive drive towards the hoop and scored a go-ahead bucket on a reverse layup.

Barcello’s field goal gave the Cougars a 71-70 advantage.

BYU forced a missed shot on the Waves’ next possession. The Cougars collected a rebound with 5.6 seconds left.
Cougar guard Spencer Johnson went to the free throw line and buried one of two attempts to extend BYU’s lead to two.
Pepperdine star Colbey Ross went down the court and connected on a jumper as time expired to send the game to overtime.

In regulation, Barcello had 15 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
