Lions RB Jamaal Williams Sets New Career-High With TD Run

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU and current Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams set a career-best record with a rushing touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Lions hosted the Seahawks at Ford Field on Sunday, October 2.
As time expired at the end of the first half, Williams burst up the middle for a one-yard touchdown run.
The score was the former BYU star’s fifth rushing touchdown of the season, which surpassed his previous single-season high of rushing scores. Williams previously scored four rushing touchdowns in 2017 as a rookie for the Green Bay Packers and in 2021, his first season with the Lions.
Williams’ fifth rushing touchdown of 2022 and 18th of his NFL career gave cut Seattle’s lead at the halftime break.

At halftime, the Seahawks led the Lions, 24-15. Williams had 11 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown at the break. He also had one catch for a yard.
The running back is in his sixth NFL season and second with the Lions. Williams entered the Week 4 game with 168 yards and four touchdowns on 43 rushes.
Prior to his time in the NFL, Williams was a star running back at BYU from 2012-16. During his college career, he ran for 3,901 yards and 35 touchdowns.
