SALT LAKE CITY – Former Highland High School standout and current NFL defensive tackle Bryan Mone signed an extension with the Seattle Seahawks, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The NFL insider reported Mone’s new deal on Monday, June 20.

“The #Seahawks signed DT Bryan Mone to a two-year, $12 million extension that includes a $1.5 million signing bonus, per source,” Pelissero tweeted. “An exclusive-rights player who signed his tender in April, Mone now can earn up to $13.8 million with incentives through 2024.”

Prior to the extension, Mone was tendered as an exclusive rights free agent by Seattle on March 17, one day after NFL free agency began.

Exclusive rights free agents are players that have been in the league for less than three seasons and are only able to negotiate with their current team.

“If Clint Hurtt [Seahawks defensive coordinator] wants this guy – he’s a defensive lineman-type guy as the new defensive coordinator – if he feels fits what they want him to do, go ahead and do that,” former Seahawks wide receiver and current Seattle Sports radio host Michael Bumpus said of Mone. “D-tackle is not a glamorous position. You’re not going to hear about these guys. He takes on double teams, does the dirty work. I’m happy for him. If he fits what they’re doing, then go ahead and get it done.”

About Bryan Mone

After his high school career, Mone played college football for the Michigan Wolverines from 2014-18.

He went undrafted in 2019 before signing with the Seahawks.

Last season, Mone had 35 total tackles, 15 solo tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in 14 games.

During his three seasons in the league, Mone has recorded 48 total tackles, 18 solo tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, and a pass breakup in 28 games played.

Seattle finished the 2021 season with a 7-10 record.
