SALT LAKE CITYBaltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that former Utah Utes quarterback Tyler Huntley appears to be in line to start in place of an injured Lamar Jackson in Week 14.

On Friday, December 9, the veteran coach spoke about his team’s quarterback situation for their upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“It looks like it’s going to be Tyler on Sunday,” Harbaugh said.

Jackson, a former NFL MVP, is reportedly currently dealing with a sprained PCL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Ravens starting quarterback suffered the injury during the first half of Baltimore’s Week 13 win over the Denver Broncos. Baltimore listed Jackson as “doubtful” to play against Pittsburgh on its injury report for Friday.

Ahead of his projected first start of the season, Huntley spoke about the opportunity.

“The more reps, the more confident a person feels,” the former Utah star said. “That plays a lot into it.”

On December 4 against the Broncos, Huntley replaced Jackson in the second quarter and led the Ravens to a 10-9 win over Denver by scoring a game-winning touchdown in the final minute of the game. Making his performance more impressive, Jackson appeared to be suffering from an illness during the contest. He felt sick on his way to the game and was unable to eat before the contest.

A day after the game, Harbaugh said that Jackson had an MRI on the injured knee and was “week-to-week” and “less likely” to play against the Steelers.

In the win over the Broncos, Huntley finished the game 27/32 passing for 187 yards and an interception. He added 10 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown with his legs.

With the win, the Ravens improved their record to 8-4 this season.

Last season, Huntley started multiple games in relief of an injured Jackson. Week 14 would be his first start of the season if he gets the nod.

Baltimore’s next game is on the road against Pittsburgh on Sunday, December 11 at 11 a.m. (MDT). The game will be televised on CBS.
