SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU Cougars and current Los Angeles linebacker Kyle Van Noy recovered his first fumble as a member of the Chargers during their Week 13 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Raiders hosted the Chargers at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, December 4.

With 7:49 left in the opening quarter, Los Angeles’ Kenneth Murray punched the ball free from the hands of Raiders running back Josh Jacobs. Van Noy battled for the ball in a pile of players and came out with the pigskin.

It was Van Noy’s eighth career fumble recovery and his first of the 2022 season.

The game was scoreless at the time of the recovery.

The former BYU star entered the game having recorded 29 total tackles, 19 solo tackles, and two pass breakups this season.

The Chargers entered the game with a 6-5 record this season, including 4-2 on the road.

About Kyle Van Noy

After a standout career at BYU, Van Noy was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Following two and a half seasons with Detroit, the linebacker was traded to New England. Van Noy played the next three and a half seasons with the Patriots and helped New England win a pair of Super Bowls.

After the 2019 season, the linebacker signed with the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins released Van Noy after one season in South Beach and he returned to New England on a two-year deal. The 2021 season was the lone year of Van Noy’s second stint with the Patriots.

Before the Raiders game, Van Noy had posted 453 total tackles, 307 solo tackles, 28.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, three interceptions, 28 pass breakups, and one touchdown in 122 games played during his nine-year professional career.
