SALT LAKE CITY – The countdown for Hans & Scotty’s 60 in 60 is on. Coming in at #7 is BYU’s Puka Nacua (WR).

Throughout the summer Hans & Scotty are counting down the top 60 college football players in the state of Utah as voted on by the media (and a fan ballot).

“Big body, can run the ball as well as catching, great route runner, deep threat but also can take a quick screen and turn it into a big touchdown,” BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said of his wide receiver. “Looking forward to big things from him. One of the nation’s best receivers and is always a big playmaker.”

BYU’s Puka Nacua

Nacua is a junior from Provo, Utah. He prepped at Orem High School where he was a four-star recruit that broke state records for career receptions with 260, career receiving yards with 5,226 and receiving touchdowns with 58. Nacua was named the Utah Gatorade Player of the Year in 2018 and helped lead the Tigers to a 12-2 overall record and the 4A state championship as a senior in 2018.

He spent the first two seasons of his college career with Washington where he played 11 games, recording 16 receptions, 319 yards, and three touchdowns.

In his first season at BYU in 2021, Nacua led the team in receiving yards, posting 43 receptions for 805 yards and six touchdowns. He had four games over 100 receiving yards and tied with Neil Pau’u for the team lead in receiving touchdowns.

Nacua and the Cougars open their 2022 schedule on the road against the USF Bulls on September 3.
