SALT LAKE CITY – The countdown for Hans & Scotty’s 60 in 60 is on. Coming in at #28 is BYU’s Malik Moore (DB).

Throughout the summer Hans & Scotty are counting down the top 60 college football players in the state of Utah as voted on by the media (and a fan ballot).

“The ultimate ball hawk,” BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said of his defensive back. “Finds ways to make interceptions. He’s done a good job for us playing outfield. He’s a problem for quarterbacks because he finds ways to use his ball skills and be able to catch the ball and high point it. He has the ability and toughness to strike and make tackles on a running back or anyone that breaks free.”

BYU’s Malik Moore

Moore is a senior from San Diego, California. Coming out of Point Loma High School, Moore played running back, wide receiver, punt returner and defensive back. He was a top 300 player in the state of California, according to 247 Sports. Moore was an All-Western League honorable mention in high school, while also running track.

His first season with BYU was in 2018 when he played in 13 games, recording three tackles and an interception. During the 2019 season, Moore appeared in 12 games, racking up 14 tackles. As a junior in 2020, Moore only played in five games, finishing with six tackles, one interception and a pass breakup. This past season, Moore had his best year in a BYU uniform, posting 31 tackles, three interceptions and three pass breakups in 13 games played.

Moore and the Cougars open their 2022 schedule on the road against the USF Bulls on September 3.
