SALT LAKE CITY – Cris Collinsworth of Sunday Night Football and PFF thinks that former BYU and current New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is the second-year signal-caller that is most likely to take a leap in 2022.

On a recent episode of The Cris Collinsworth Podcast, the former NFL player and current analyst discussed the future of the Jets and Wilson.

“If any second-year quarterback will make the leap, I think it’ll be Zach Wilson,” Collinsworth said.

“Zach Wilson coming out of college, I thought was too good to not be a factor,” Collinsworth added. “I thought that his tape coming out of college was too good.”

The Sunday Night Football commentator, along with PFF’s Austin Gayle, broke down the Jets’ offseason acquisitions via free agency and the draft.

Collinsworth and Gayle both expect Wilson to lead New York to more wins next season.

“It’s always hard to take that leap,” Collinsworth said. “I do think that Robert Saleh has a plan.”

About Zach Wilson

Before his time in the NFL, the Corner Canyon High School product rose up draft boards throughout his junior season at BYU.

Wilson helped the Cougars to an 11-1 record during his final season in Provo.

New York selected Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The first-year quarterback struggled to start the 2021 campaign and suffered a knee injury that caused him to miss a month midway through the season. After bouncing back from the injury, Wilson saw his play improve down the final stretch of New York’s slate.

Wilson finished the season passing for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He added 185 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
