PROVO, Utah – Recently, the recruiting trail has been busy for BYU football. The Cougars hosted a talented group of recruits on Thursday that included one of the nation’s top quarterback prospects in the class of 2023.

Five-star prospect Jaden Rashada from Pittsburg, California, was on BYU’s campus observing day three of BYU spring practice that began outside then concluded at the Indoor Practice Facility. The industry-standard 247Sports Composite ratings have Rashada as the nation’s No. 31 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle and the fifth-ranked QB in the class.

During his visit at BYU, which was alongside his older brothers, Diablo Valley College’s Roman Rashada and Harlen Rashada, Jaden tweeted out, “Love it here!” The tweet was accompanied by BYU’s signature eyeball emoji.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound quarterback announced that he had received an official scholarship offer from the BYU coaching staff. “All Glory 2 God! I’m beyond blessed to have received an offer from BYU (emojis)! #GoCougs”

Rashada passed for 2,220 yards and had a five-to-one touchdown-to-interception ratio in his junior season. On Christmas Day, Rashada released a “Top 10” schools list that included Auburn, Oklahoma, Penn State, UCLA, Oregon, Penn State, and others. Since Christmas, Rashada has still been receiving offers; the BYU offer on Thursday is now his 35th scholarship offer extended to him during this recruiting process.

Scholarship offers to QBs in 2023 class

For the 2023 cycle, Rashada is the fourth quarterback BYU has extended a scholarship offer. In the 2022 recruiting class, BYU did not sign a quarterback, but Boise State transfer Cade Fennegan filled that role for Aaron Roderick and his QB room.

Gearing up for the Big 12 era, BYU will be active in this cycle’s quarterback market, and Rashada is one of the best nationally. BYU has also extended to fellow five-star QB recruit Nicholaus Iamaleava from Downey, California. Iamaleava has BYU in his “Top 12” that he released on Christmas, but schools such as Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, and UCLA, appear to be some of the favorites.

Other QB offers include three-star Javance Tupouata-Johnson. Tupouata-Johnson has visited BYU’s campus multiple times, including the BYU-Utah game last September. Then back in 2019, BYU offered Corona, California native Israel Carter.
