PROVO, Utah – BYU football head coach Kalani Sitake has always said he wants “ballers on and off the field.” The off the field dynamic applies to the work his players produce in the classroom.

A total of 61 BYU football players during the 2021 fall semester showed their “baller status” by earning Honor Roll recognition. That’s nearly half of BYU’s 123-man roster they had for the season.

Six players reached a perfect 4.0 GPA, which included starting center James Empey. Empey, who played last season as a graduate athlete has since moved on to pursue a career in the NFL.

Thirteen other BYU starters reached produced grade point averages that placed them on the Honor Roll. One of those 13 was starting quarterback Jaren Hall who is majoring in exercise and wellness at the faith-based institution.

Here is the entire list of BYU football players that reached the honor roll during the fall 2021 semester.
