Jazz Guard Donovan Mitchell Breaks Pelicans Ankles For Second Time

SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell broke the ankles of a Pelicans player for the second time during Utah’s game against New Orleans.
The Pelicans hosted the Jazz at Smoothie King Center on Monday, January 3.
With 8:35 remaining in the fourth quarter, Mitchell sent New Orleans’ Josh Hart to the hardwood with an ankle-breaking juke.
Mitchell’s move cleared the path for a layup to give the Jazz a 95-83 lead.

It was Mitchell’s second time putting a Pelicans player on skates during the game.
With 8:45 to go in the third quarter, Mitchell crossed over Herb Jones before pulling up for a 17-foot stepback jumper. Mitchell’s move caused the Pelicans rookie to fall to the hardwood.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Mitchell had 24 points on 10-17 shooting, including 4-7 on threes. He added two rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 29 minutes.
This season, Mitchell is averaging 25.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game.
