Yoeli Childs Has Impressive G League Debut Against BYU Teammate Jake Toolson, SLC Stars

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU basketball teammates Yoeli Childs and Jake Toolson squared off against one another in their G League debuts.
The 2021 G League season opened up on Wednesday in Florida, where the league conducts a bubble environment over the next month. Childs, a member of the Erie Bayhawks, faced Toolson for the first time, a member of the hometown SLC Stars.

Yoeli Childs ends up with game-best +/-
Childs put together an impressive outing in his first professional game with the G League. The former BYU and Bingham High star, who started for Erie, scored 11 points, pulled down five rebounds, two steals, and an assist. He ended up with a game-high plus/minus of +22.

Childs was one of eight Bayhawks that scored in double-figures as Erie rolled through the SLC Stars, 117-98.
Like Childs, Toolson also got the start in his G League debut for the SLC Stars. Toolson scored five points, dished out two assists, and pulled down two rebounds in 19 minutes of action.

Childs and the Bayhawks are back in action on Friday, February 12, against Raptors 905 at 9 a.m. (MT) on ESPN+. Toolson and the Stars will look to get their first win of the season tomorrow against the Oklahoma City Blue at 9:30 a.m. (MT). That game will also air on ESPN+.
