Los Angeles Rams Release Former BYU Defensive Back Dayan Lake

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Los Angeles Rams waived former BYU defensive back Dayan Lake.
Lake’s release was announced on Friday, September 4, one day before the NFL’s deadline for teams to trim their active rosters to a maximum of 53 players.
Lake was one of 17 players who were cut by the Rams prior to the league’s deadline.

If he clears waivers, Lake will become a free agent and can sign with any franchise.
However, The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrique reported the Lake is “one very strong candidate” for the Rams to bring back as member of the organization’s practice squad.
The Rams will bring back a few of these recent cuts to the practice squad. One very strong candidate, as of now: Versatile, fast UDFA DB Dayan Lake.

Los Angeles first signed Lake shortly after the defensive back went undrafted following the 2020 NFL Draft in April.

Dayan Lake’s career at BYU
Lake, who also went by Dayan Ghanwoloku during his time at BYU, played for the Cougars from 2015-19.
While playing for BYU, the defensive back played cornerback, nickel, and safety.
During his college career, the Layton, Utah native accounted for 207 total tackles, 149 solo tackles, 2.0 sacks, 1 quarterback hit, 7 interceptions, and 7 fumble recoveries.
