SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Two NBA players tested positive for COVID-19 within the Disney bubble campus. According to a release from the NBA, the players tested during arrival when teams began reporting on July 7.

To date, 322 players have entered the bubble from the 22 teams finishing the season in Orlando.

“Of the 322 players tested for COVID-19 since arriving on the NBA Campus July 7, two have returned confirmed positive tests while in quarantine,” The release read. “Those players never cleared quarantine and have since left the Campus to isolate at home or in isolation housing.”

Players were guaranteed to their room for 48 hours after arriving in the bubble while awaiting their test results. Once players cleared the testing process, they were free to move about the campus. The NBA has not released the names of the two players who tested positive.

NBA Players Breaking Quarantine Protocol

Two players have already broken quarantine protocols within the Disney campus. Houston Rockets center Bruno Caboclo left his hotel room during the initial 48 hour waiting period without receiving a negative test. As a result, the big man must undergo an additional 10-day quarantine and more rigorous nasal testing.

Sacramento Kings center Richaun Holmes also broke quarantine protocol. The Kings big man reportedly crossed quarantine boundaries to receive food he ordered outside of the campus. Like Caboclo, Holmes is subject to an additional 10 days of quarantine and more invasive testing.

“After the initial quarantine period, I briefly and accidentally crossed the NBA campus line to pick up a food delivery,” Holmes tweeted. “I am currently in quarantine and have 8 days left. I apologize for my actions and look forward to rejoining my teammates for our playoff push.”

Wednesday morning Rockets guard Russell Westbrook announced he had tested positive for the virus. The guard tested positive in Houston and has yet to join the team within the bubble.

“I tested positive for covid-19 prior to my teams departure to Orlando,” Westbrook wrote on his Instagram page. “I’m currently feeling well, quarantined, and looking forward to rejoining my teammates when I am cleared.”

No player for the Utah Jazz has tested positive for COVID-19 since the team began welcoming players back to practice facilities on July 1.
