TOLEDO, Ohio – BYU kicker Jake Oldroyd entered Saturday’s game as the No. 1 kicker nationally for most field goals made this season with 10. Through the first 30 minutes against Toledo, Oldroyd has missed opportunities to build that number.
In the first half, Oldroyd missed two field-goal attempts from 39 and 42 yards respectively.

The first attempt took place on BYU’s fourth offensive series of the game in the 2nd quarter and the 39-yard attempt went off the upright leaving BYU down 3-0.
Then two drives later after the Cougars scored a touchdown on an Emmanuel Esukpa, Oldroyd hooked his 42-yard attempt wide left.
With the two misses, Oldroyd is now 10-of-13 on the season in field goals, which is good for 77-percent accuracy. Entering the game, Oldroyd had made 90-percent of his field goal attempts.
#BYU shooting themselves in the foot again. Right side of the offensive line allows a sack and then Jake Oldroyd misses a field goal off the upright. This game has a struggily feel so far. #TOLvsBYU #KSLsports

This coming on the heels of Oldroyd asking to no longer be called “Jake The Make,” but rather “Jake Ice-Coldroyd.” Regardless of the nickname, BYU will need Oldroyd to turn it around in the second half in order for the Cougars to pull out the victory against this tough and pesky Toledo squad from the MAC.
