PROVO, Utah – BYU quarterback Zach Wilson posted an Instagram photo with New Orleans Saints All-Pro after working out together.
Wilson is capitalizing on a great opportunity to learn from one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
The young BYU quarterback just completed his first season at BYU and is expected to be the starter for the 2019 season in Provo.
At BYU Media Day, Wilson talked about watching film on the great quarterbacks in the NFL like Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady and Brees.
“I am watching tons of pro guys, some of my favorite guys like Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Drew Brees,” Wilson said at Media Day. “I have watched some of the Jared Goff stuff because he is a young quarterback as well. I don’t want to pick up the stuff that comes when you become a vet or stuff that comes when you are an NFL guy but how they work inside the pocket and the route combinations. I love to see the things they are throwing against certain kind of defenses, how they are manipulating defenders, their pocket presence.”
Wilson threw for 1,578 yards and 12 touchdowns as a freshman for the Cougars.
Brees is entering his 19th NFL season and has thrown for 74,437 yards and 520 touchdowns. He holds the All-Time NFL record for career passing yards and is 20 touchdowns away from passing Peyton Manning for the All-Time leader.
