SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU star and current New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson dove into the end zone for his first rushing touchdown of the season.

The Jets hosted the Miami Dolphins at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday, October 9.

With 2:39 left in the first half, Wilson scrambled and ran towards the end zone before diving head first across the goal line.

Wilson’s touchdown run was his first rushing score of the season and gave New York a 19-7 lead. Wilson now has five rushing touchdowns in his NFL career.

At halftime, Wilson was 8/13 passing for 145 yards and rating of 99.8. He added two carries for four yards and a touchdown with his legs.

New York’s game against Miami is televised on CBS.

About Zach Wilson

The Week 5 contest was Wilson’s second game of the 2022 season. Two weeks prior to the Dolphins game, Wilson was cleared to return to the field by doctors after he suffered a torn meniscus and bone bruise in his leg during the Jets’ preseason opener.

He underwent surgery to repair the damage. Shortly before the Jets’ regular-season opener, they ruled Wilson out until at least Week 4.

Without Wilson, the Jets opened the 2022 season with a 1-2 record. Wilson led New York to a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in his first game of the season on October 2.

During Wilson’s rookie campaign last season, the former BYU gunslinger missed four games because of a knee injury and threw for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions with a 55.6 completion rate.

Before his time in the NFL, the Corner Canyon High School product had a standout career at BYU. Wilson helped the Cougars to an 11-1 record during his final season in Provo.
