SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz held an open scrimmage on Saturday and introduced fans to the team’s new black court.
The court coincides with the Jazz black, white, and yellow rebrand that they launched over the summer to mixed reactions from the fans.
While the scrimmage featured every new face on the Jazz minus Malik Beasley who sat out due to a left ankle sprain, it was the court that stole the show.

The Jazz held four mini-games with the roster split into two teams. The games were decided after 20 minutes or the first team to 25 points.
“With the debut of the new court, the iconic Jazz Note is featured in the center with a black apron and yellow UTAH JAZZ wordmark,” the Jazz said in a release about the new floor. “The wood paneling is uniquely angled rather than the typical horizontal look, flowing in conjunction with the Jazz Note that is rendered in chrome.”
The Jazz plan to release one additional new court this season.
Jazz Rookies Sign Baby Shark
In an initiation ceremony by the Jazz veterans, rookie Walker Kessler, Ochaci Agbaji, Simone Fontecchio, and two-way forward Johnny Juzang had to sign at half court.
Jazz fans started a large chant of “baby shark” which drew the cheers of the Jazz elder statesmen.

The four Jazz rookies gathered at center court where they serenaded fans with the popular kids’ ear bug.
The Jazz are in the midst of a week off between their second and third preseason games. The team lost their preseason opener to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday in Edmonton before bouncing back with a victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
The team retakes the court to wrap up its preseason schedule at home hosting the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday before facing the Dallas Mavericks on October 14. Both games will tip off at Vivint Arena at 7 pm MT.
