SALT LAKE CITY-  Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy and ESPN’s College GameDay recognize Cam Rising as one of college football’s best quarterbacks in 2022.

This isn’t the first time that Rising, along with tight ends Brant Kuithe and Dalton Kincaid have caught Nagy’s eye. Earlier in the summer Nagy praised the trio after Rising’s performance at the Manning Passing Academy and earlier in the week all three made the Senior Bowl Watch List.

This is the first mention of Rising so far for College GameDay. Host Kirk Herbstreit appears to be high on the Utah quarterback asking the college football world to “put some respect on his name”.

Welcome To The Cam Rising Club

Last week Pac-12 Network host and the league’s biggest champion Yogi Roth joined KSL Unrivaled and had a lot to say about Rising being a Heisman Candidate.

“I don’t think he is getting enough praise right now across the country,” Roth said. “I think he is a Heisman candidate and I think he needs to be talked about like that. … Those of us who know this league need to scream from the rooftops to make sure that whoever calling those games. It can be whatever mouth of the South you want but you better know Cam Rising.”

Roth was quick to welcome College GameDay and Herbstreit to the “Cam Rising is a Heisman Candidate” Club while urging others to jump on board.

Rising finished the 2021 season 204 of 320 passing attempts for 2,493 yards, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions. Rising also carried the ball 74 times for 499 yards and six additional rushing touchdowns. While Rising’s numbers are pretty good and worth Heisman consideration, what really makes him a potential candidate is his leadership and how the team responds with him under center.

Will this be enough to get noticed by the Eastern-based national media who ultimately vote on these things? It remains to be seen, however, it can’t hurt having guys like Roth, Herbstreit/College GameDay, and Nagy starting to make a case for you.
