SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz have traded veteran Patrick Beverley to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the trade on Twitter late Wednesday night.

“The Los Angeles Lakers are in advanced talks on a trade to acquire Utah Jazz guard Patrick Beverley for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson, sources tell ESPN,” Wojnarowski tweeted. “Deal could be finalized as soon as Thursday.”

Beverley originally landed in Utah as one of five players traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Jazz in the Rudy Gobert blockbuster.

However, with the Jazz headed towards a rebuild, and the team’s existing depth in the backcourt, the veteran is being traded to the Lakers.

Beverley has career averages of 8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.

Jazz Get Horton-Tucker, Johnson In Trade

The Jazz are getting two younger pieces in Horton-Tucker and Johnson in return for Beverley.

Horton-Tucker is entering his fourth season in the NBA after being selected by the Lakers with the 46th overall pick out of Iowa State in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The defensive-minded guard has career averages of 9.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in three seasons.

At just 21 years old, Horton-Tucker is the youngest player from his draft class.

Johnson, 26, was the eighth pick of the 2015 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons but struggled to live up to his lottery billing.

The 6-foot-6 forward spent three and a half seasons with the Pistons before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019.

Afterward, Johnson spent two seasons with the Toronto Raptors before landing with the Lakers on a 10-day contract in December of last season. The strong-bodied forward quickly established himself as a rotation-level player in LA and signed for the remainder of the season in January.

Johnson has career averages of 6.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 419 games.
