SALT LAKE CITY – The countdown for Hans & Scotty’s 60 in 60 is on. Coming in at #17 is BYU’s Keenan Pili (LB).

Throughout the summer Hans & Scotty are counting down the top 60 college football players in the state of Utah as voted on by the media (and a fan ballot).

“Keenan Pili had an unfortunate injury last year, looking really good right now,” BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said of his linebacker. “He has tons of ability, is a next-level linebacker. He is what you want at middle linebacker. Tons of speed can run the length of the field and the width of the field and has a lot of punishing hits and is physical in the box as well. Keenan’s going to have a great year.”

BYU’s Keenan Pili

Pili is a junior from Provo, Utah. He prepped at Timpview High School where he was a three-star recruit as the No. 5 prospect in the state of Utah and the No. 1 outside linebacker in the state. While in high school, Pili helped Timpview to an 11-2 record and an appearance in the 4A state championship game. He recorded 70 tackles, one sack, three fumble recoveries and a blocked field goal as a senior for the Thunderbirds.

Last season, Pili played in just three games before suffering a season-ending injury. He finished with 31 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and a quarterback hit in 2021. In 24 career games for the Cougars, Pili has racked up 128 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery, two quarterback hits and three pass breakups.

Pili and the Cougars open their 2022 schedule on the road against the USF Bulls on September 3.
