Former BYU Linebacker Tops Madden 2023 Ratings

SALT LAKE CITY – San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner is rated as the highest best linebacker grade in Madden23 with an eye-popping 94 grade.
ESPN announced Madden23’s highest-rated linebackers on social media on Tuesday, July 19.

Warner wasn’t the only player with Beehive State roots to make the list. Former Utah State Aggie linebacker Bobby Wagner is the fourth highest rated with a 91.
About Fred Warner
Prior to his time in the NFL, Warner played college football at BYU.
During his four seasons in Provo, the linebacker recorded 264 total tackles, 158 solo tackles, 6.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, seven interceptions, 13 pass breakups, and two touchdowns.
Warner was selected by the Niners with the No. 70 overall pick during the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was selected to the Pro Bowl and honored as a first-team All-Pro in 2020.
In his four seasons with San Francisco, the former BYU standout has posted 504 tackles, 332 solo tackles, 4.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, three interceptions, 25 pass breakups, and one touchdown in 64 games.
About Bobby Wagner
The former USU standout was selected to his eighth consecutive Pro Bowl in 2021.
This season, Wagner recorded 170 total tackles, 93 solo tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one interception, and five pass breakups.

During his 10-year career, Wagner has posted 1,383 total tackles, 818 solo tackles, 23.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries, 11 interceptions, 60 pass breakups, and one touchdown in 150 games.
Wagner helped Seattle win Super Bowl XLVIII in 2013.
Season on the horizon
With training camp just around the corner, NFL rookies have already begun to arrive at the teams training facilities. 10 teams already have players reporting for camp with all teams expected to be in camp by July 26.
The preseason slate open with the Hall of Fame game on Thursday, Aug. 4 when the Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders will face off at 6 p.m. (MST) on NBC.
