Reports: Kevin Durant Requests Trade From Brooklyn Nets

SALT LAKE CITY – NBA star Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The forward’s request came three hours prior to the start of NBA free agency on Thursday, June 30.

“Brooklyn Nets GM Sean Marks is working with Kevin Durant and his business manager Rich Kleiman on finding a trade for the franchise star, Kleiman tells ESPN,” Wojnarowski posted on Twitter. “Durant requested a trade with the team today, sources tell ESPN.”

According to Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes, Durants’ “preferred trade destination” is the Phoenix Suns.

Wojnarowski added that the Miami Heat are also on Durant’s “wish list” of teams to be traded to.

If traded, Durant will leave the Nets after playing in only 90 games will the franchise over the past two seasons. The NBA star signed with Brooklyn following the 2018-19 season. Durant signed a four-year, $198 million extension with the Nets in August 2021.
After a college career at Texas, Durant was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.
Durant moved with the franchise as the organization relocated to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder following the forward’s rookie season.
In 2014, the forward was honored as NBA MVP.
Durant played eight seasons in Oklahoma City before signing with the Golden State Warriors in 2016.
During his three seasons with the Warriors, Durant helped Golden State win a pair of NBA titles. He was named NBA Finals MVP after both championship runs.
Durant signed with the Nets in 2019 but didn’t play during his first season with Brooklyn after suffering an Achilles injury during his final game with the Warriors.
Last season, Durant averaged 29.9 points per contest in 55 games played.

During his NBA career, Durant has averaged 27.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game. He’s shot 49.6 percent overall and 38.4 percent on three-pointers.
Durant is a 12-time NBA All-Star and six-time NBA First Team honoree.
