SALT LAKE CITY – The countdown for Hans & Scotty’s 60 in 60 is on. Coming in at #37 is Utah State’s Byron Vaughns (DE).

Throughout the summer Hans & Scotty are counting down the top 60 college football players in the state of Utah as voted on by the media (and a fan ballot).

“Byron Vaughns is one of the best pass rushers in the country in my opinion,” Utah State head coach Blake Anderson said of his defensive end. “Definitely one of the best pass rushers in the league. MVP in the championship game when we needed him most. That was probably the best o-line we saw all year, he had his best game against the best talent. Expect him to have a phenomenal season at getting after the quarterback and chasing the ball. Not only is he a great player but a guy that brings it everyday. If your best players are your best workers, you have a chance to do something special and he brings that for us.”

Vaughns is a junior from Fort Worth, Texas.

He started his college football career at the University of Texas from 2018-20. Vaughns redshirted in 2018 before appearing in 10 games in 2019. He didn’t play during the 2020 season.

His first season with Utah State was in 2021, where he played in all 14 games, including five starts. Vaughns finished with 43 tackles, four sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss, six pass breakups and a forced fumble.
