SALT LAKE CITY – The countdown for Hans & Scotty’s 60 in 60 is on. Coming in at #53 is Utah State’s Ajani Carter (CB).

Throughout the summer Hans & Scotty are counting down the top 60 college football players in the state of Utah as voted on by the media (and a fan ballot).

“A.J. Carter has taken another position change,” Utah State head coach Blake Anderson said of his cornerback. “We moved him from safety to striker, then from striker to cornerback. What he does for us at corner is gives us 6-foot length range, something we haven’t had in the past. He also brings a physical nature that you saw at striker last year. If you want to bring this guy on a blitz, bring him off the edge, he is going to be disruptive in the backfield.”

Utah State’s Ajani Carter

Carter is a senior from Houston, Texas.

He joined Utah State in 2019 as a three-star recruit from North Shore High School. As a freshman in 2019, Carter appeared in 12 games, mostly on special teams. Carter moved from wide receiver to safety before the 2020 season under Gary Andersen and Frank Maile.

Last season under Blake Anderson, Carter played in all 13 games, recording 45 tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss, three interceptions , a pass breakup, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Carter is the fifth Utah State player to appear in the top 60 in 60 in 2022, joining Hale Motu’apuaka (No. 59), Daniel Grzesiak (No. 57), Patrick Joyner Jr. (No. 56) and Gurvan Hall Jr. (No. 55).
