Former NFL Player Highlights ‘Sheer Speed’ Of Draft Prospect Deven Thompkins

SALT LAKE CITY – Former NFL linebacker Stevenson Sylvester highlighted the “sheer speed” of Deven Thompkins while breaking down the Utah State wide receiver as a draft prospect.
Sylvester, who played in the league from 2010-14, discussed Thompkins’ potential as an NFL player during KSL TV’s SportsBeat on Sunday, March 27.
During the film breakdown, Sylvester highlighted Thompkins’ speed and route running as things that will separate him from other players.

The former NFL player said that the USU standout is comparable to Kansas City Chiefs wideout Mecole Hardman or former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Mike Wallace, both of which are known for their excellent speed on the gridiron.
Sylvester, along with SportsBeat’s Jeremiah Jensen and Sam Farnsworth also discussed Thompkins’ exceptional performance at the Utah State NFL Pro Day where the wide receiver put up the following numbers:

About Deven Thompkins
Thompkins played for the Aggies from 2018-21.
The senior from Fort Myers, Florida recorded 171 receptions for 2,519 yards and 15 touchdowns during his USU career. He added 15 rushes for 138 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

In 2021, Thompkins had a career-high 102 catches for 1,704 yards and 10 touchdowns. He finished the season as the nation’s second-leading receiver in yards.
He also helped USU to an 11-3 record, a Mountain West title, and an LA Bowl victory last season.

2022 NFL Draft
The draft is scheduled to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 28-30.
It will be broadcast on ESPN and NFL Network.
