Utah Warriors Using Bye Week To Get More Skill Development For Players

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Warriors are currently on a three-game losing streak heading into their bye week and plan on taking full advantage of not playing a game.
After a disappointing loss to Austin last week, the Utah Warriors are going to take the bye week to get their players better on the pitch.
Assistant coach Shaun Davies talked about the tough preseason that put his team behind the eight-ball a little bit heading into the season.
Yeah, the bye’s coming at the right time,” Davies told the media on Tuesday. Honestly, we’ve had a pretty tough preseason, we didn’t have a preseason game. The preseason was pretty disruptive with all the snow and everything like that. So we almost started behind the eight ball, but, we have a bloody good culture. All the boys want to do, they want to get better. They want to work hard for each other. So the more we can just get on field, they continue building those connections. I think it will come and when it does come, we’re going to be a hard team to stop. It’s just going to take a little time.”

Paul Lasike Signs With Utah Warriors
Lasike, who played his college rugby with Brigham Young University, previously spent time with the Warriors during their inaguaral season in 2018 where he recorded seven caps during the 3-5 season.
Davies played rugby with Lasike when they attended BYU. The Utah Warriors coach is excited to have him on the roster.
Yeah, Paul is the man,” Davies stated. “I played with him first in 2009 when I was at BYU and the guy is a freak. He was destined to be a professional athlete when he came out the womb. He’s not only an absolute freak, athletically, he’s a really good culture guy. I think he’s going to fit in awesomely. So we played together at BYU for a few years. Then, he went out to do his NFL thing, we obviously didn’t chat too much then. But then when he came back to rugby, I played with him with USA rugby, and then actually when we beat Scotland, I think that was the first time that I played with him. The guy is just gifted athletically, to say the very least.”
Davies mentioned that it will be a couple of weeks before Lasike will see the field with the Warriors.
