Utah Valley Unable To Keep Pace In Loss To Grand Canyon

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Valley men’s basketball team struggled to keep pace with the Grand Canyon Antelopes and suffered a double-digit loss at home.
The Wolverines hosted the Antelopes on Thursday, February 10.
UVU suffered a 79-69 loss to GCU.

After the opening 20 minutes of the contest, the Wolverines went into the locker room at the halftime break with a two-point lead.

The second half was a different story.
Following the break, the Antelopes ran away with the game after they outscored the Wolverines, 51-39.
Utah Valley was unable to contain Grand Canyon’s starting backcourt, which combined to score 46 points.
The Wolverines finished the night shooting 39.7 percent overall and 37.5 from beyond the arc.

Le’Tre Darthard led UVU with 16 points, two rebounds, one assist, two steals, and two blocks.

With the loss, the Wolverines fell to a record of 15-8 this season, including 6-5 in Western Athletic Conference games.
Utah Valley’s next game is at home against the New Mexico State Aggies on Saturday, February 12.
