Utah Valley Takes Down UTRGV With Impressive Second Half

OREM, Utah – After a mediocre first half, the Utah Valley Wolverines pulled off an impressive second half to beat UTRGV 66-56 on Thursday night.
UTRGV outscored Utah Valley 30-29 in the first half before the Wolverines dropped 37 points and held the visitors to 26 points in the second half.
Fardaws Aimaq led the Wolverines with 13 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Le’Tre Darthard and Tim Fuller each scored 13 points as well. Connor Harding added 12 points and five rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 40% from the field, including 52% in the second half. They also made 35% of their three-point attempts and went 14-of-27 at the free throw line.
Xavier Johnson led UTRGV with 21 points on 6-of-9 field goal shooting and 5-for-8 from beyond the arc. Mike Adewunmi chipped in 11 points, while Justin Johnson added 10 points.
They shot 40% from the floor, 29% from downtown and went 9-of-16 at the charity stripe.
Utah Valley improved their record to 12-6 overall and 3-3 in WAC play. They will return to the UCCU Center on Saturday, January 22 to face Lamar at 2 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
