Lone Peak Linebacker Commits To Join Utah State Aggies

SALT LAKE CITY – Lone Peak senior running back/linebacker and reigning 6A State Champion Luke Durfey announced he has committed to join the Utah State football program.
According to his Twitter account, Durfey received a preferred walk-on offer from the Aggies in October 2021.

Named a captain prior to the 2021 season beginning, Durfey was a critical component for Lone Peak as they went 10-2 during his senior season, culminating in scoring two touchdowns in the state championship to knock off three-time defending champ Corner Canyon in a 49-42 thriller.

According to maxpreps.co, Durfey racked up 122 tackles, including 41 solo, during his senior year. He also accounted for 3.5 sacks and 11 tackles for a loss on his way to being named the 6A Defensive Player of the Year by KSL’s Game Night Rewind. For his career, Durfey finished with 267 total tackles, 30 tackles for a loss and 9.5 sacks.
As a running back, Durfey accounted for 259 yards on 71 carries and 10 touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 114 yards and a touchdown.
He joins an Aggie team that finished 11-3 and defeated the Oregon State Beavers 24-13 in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl on December 18.
