Utah Football Team Happy To See Tyler Huntley Succeed In NFL
Whittingham had a big smile on his face when he was asked about Huntley going toe-to-toe with Rodgers on Sunday.
“I watched the whole game, it was great,” Whittingham said. “I thought Tyler played very well. I know they didn’t come out on the winning end. But I thought he made some plays and played like a seasoned vet.”
Utah’s current starting quarterback Cam Rising was on the scout team during Huntley’s senior year with the Utes in 2019 after transferring from Texas.
“Unreal, he’s doing everything I thought he would do,” said Rising. “He’s an unreal player and I’m happy to see him go and get his opportunity to shine.”
Britain Covey was teammates with Huntley for two seasons after returning from his two-year church mission.
“Oh my gosh, I was screaming, I was going crazy,” Covey said about Huntley. “It’s so cool. Tyler is an amazing human being. I love Tyler for anything he does on the field. Just who he is as a person is more important, but I’m so proud of him, just pumped for him.”
The former Ute scored four touchdowns in a one-point loss to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Huntley finished the game 28/40 passing for 215 yards and two touchdowns. He posted a 99.5 Rating. Huntley added 13 carries for 73 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
