BYU Athletics Completes ‘No-Loss November’

LOS ANGELES – The month of November 2021 will go down in the record books for BYU athletics. All of the teams competing in November put together an undefeated record to combine for a mark of 29-0.
The undefeated record was capped off with men’s basketball defeating rival Utah at the Huntsman Center and then BYU football holding off USC at the LA Coliseum.

If you want to point to even more winning from BYU athletics, you can also add National Championships for Track & Field stars Connor Mantz and Whittni Orton, along with a national club title from BYU Men’s Soccer. So life has been good for the Cougar Athletic Department.
Here’s a rundown of all the games BYU Athletics won en route to their “No-Loss November.”
BYU Football
November 6th, 2021: BYU 59, Idaho State 14
November 20th: BYU 34, Georgia Southern 17
November 27th: No. 13 BYU 35, 31

The opponents weren’t great that BYU faced, but the regular-season finale at USC was memorable for the Cougars as it marks their first-ever victory in the Coliseum. BYU has now put together back-to-back years with 10-win regular seasons. You have to go back 12 years to find the last time BYU did that in consecutive years.
Men’s Basketball

November 12th: BYU 66, San Diego State 60
November 16th: BYU 81, No. 12 Oregon 49

BYU hasn’t jumped out to a 6-0 start since Jimmer Fredette’s senior season year. It’s not often the Cougars jump out to a 6-0 mark in a season. The last five times before this year that it has happened have spanned the following coaches: Dave Rose, Roger Reid, Ladell Andersen, and Stan Watts.
Women’s Basketball

The nation has been sleeping on the BYU women’s basketball team, but after a pair of wins over nationally-ranked teams, Jeff Judkins’ squad looks poised to jump high into the Top 25 rankings next week. BYU’s offensive firepower with Shaylee Gonzales, Lauren Gustin, and Paisley Harding is as good of a “Big 3” as you’ll find in women’s college basketball this year.

For the first time since 1993, BYU women’s volleyball completed a conference schedule season undefeated. Heather Olmstead’s squad awaits their NCAA Tournament draw, but it’s not unreasonable to think this group is good enough to make a run at another Final Four.

November 13th: BYU 6, New Mexico 0 (NCAA 1st Round)

The BYU Women’s Soccer team has pulled off a magical run to their first-ever College Cup. BYU’s signature win was a revenge victory against Virginia in the NCAA Tournament 3rd round in Charlottesville. That win gave BYU the chance to host an Elite Eight game at South Field against South Carolina. Jennifer Rockwood’s team didn’t squander the opportunity, as they put an exclamation mark on their first-ever trip to the College Cup.
