Earlier this year, Brewer transferred from the University of Baylor in Waco, Texas to the University of Utah where he won the starting quarterback job over Cameron Rising in fall camp.
However, through the first two and a half games, Brewer struggled to find consistency and the Utah offense battled to move the chains.
Brewer ended his time at Utah when he was subsequently benched midway through the third game of the season against San Diego State. He had previously beaten Weber State in the opener before losing to BYU in Provo the following week.
Rising entered the frame against San Diego State and immediately elevated the offensive productivity for Utah. Then, two days later on Monday, it was announced that Brewer’s time on the hill had come to an end as he unexpectedly quit the football team.
Brewer left the Utah football program before the NCAA four-game red-shirt limit, meaning, Brewer is eligible to redshirt this season and play another year in 2022 at a different program.
It remains unknown where Brewer will end up, but as reported by Hatch, it appears that Brewer is looking to transfer to a school closer to his family in Texas.
